Our impact.

soul-nourishing

Feedback from "Diversifying Music Academia: Strengthening the Pipeline" (2018):

“This symposium was phenomenal, inspiring, and soul-nourishing, and I don’t think I can adequately express my gratitude and appreciation for the work that all of you did, but thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“That day I walked out of a session utterly transformed in my thinking, eager to put new ideas into practice, and inspired by what I had heard.”

“I want to commend you on organizing this. The level of thought and care that went into it, as well as the extremely professional way it ran, is incredibly impressive. I hope you each feel recognized and appreciated. Thank you.”

inspiring

Feedback from “Diversifying Music Academia: Building the Coalition” (2020) and our SMT workshop on abolition and community organizing (2021):

“It is important, interesting, timely, and I felt I could learn from it. Project Spectrum’s events are also always very well-organized, educational, and inspiring.”

“The outstanding workshop leaders provided step-by-step instructions for taking immediate action and they were extremely supportive of all the participants. I felt included, uplifted, and supported throughout, as well as energized after.”

“So grateful to all of the panelists for sharing their perspectives, and beyond impressed with the grad students who have invested huge amounts of labor into coordinating this series.”

Support our mission

In the lead up to our 2022 symposium, “In Discomfort,” we raised $18,000.

Funds were used to cover audio-visual costs, catering, honoraria for panelists and speakers, travel grants for marginalized junior scholars and our grad-student organizers, and more.

Individual donations from personal and institutional donors were matched up to $10,000 by a generous anonymous donor. Project Spectrum has an official funding relationship with the American Musicological Society, a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation would go through their secure platform.

Thank you so much for considering our request, and please feel free to email us with any questions or concerns.
